InsideOut Wholistic Wellness & Thermography (Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging)
Janice Anderson, RN, HNB-BC, CCT III, ACHt., RMT – Board Certified Holistic RN/Certified Clinical Thermographer
Inside Out has been operating since 2005 as a service of the private holistic nursing and wellness practice of Janice Anderson, BA, RN, HN-BC, CCT, ACHt, RMT, which opened in 1992. She has been a nurse for over two decades, practicing holistically for more than 16 years. Anderson was trained and certified at Duke University in Durham, NC under the auspices of the American College of Clinical Thermology (ACCT). Her private practice focuses on thermography, prevention, wellness, and the establishment/facilitation of a healthy lifestyle. The goal is to empower the individual to take control of and responsibility for their own health.
Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DITI) also known as Thermography, is FDA approved and is a non-invasive clinical imaging procedure for detecting and monitoring a number of diseases and physical injuries by showing the thermal abnormalities present in the body. The scans done in Anderson’s office are sent to doctors (MDs) trained as thermologists at the American College of Thermography for review and comment.
Thermography is used for diagnosis and monitoring of therapy progress for several types of conditions and injuries including arthritis, digestive disorders, vascular disease, headache, nerve damage and back injuries. Thermography images illustrate the thermal temperature of the body, allowing for any change in the symmetry of the body to be recognized and evaluated.
“Because this infrared imaging provides a snapshot of the physiological changes in one’s body, it can detect some diseases before other tests that examine the anatomy and structure can do, because these body changes show up later,” explained Anderson.
One of the most common uses of thermography is for breast scans, which are done once a year such as a mammogram is, more often for a high-risk client. Anderson noted that thermography imaging does not compete with mammogram services, but is used as an adjunct to this traditional testing. Often her thermography clients are mastectomy patients, men, or those who do not want radiation as part of their test. Anderson also provides other healing arts services.
Using guided imagery and Reiki, a Japanese technique that is administered by “laying on hands” to improve the unseen “life force energy” that flows through an individual, she has assisted clients in preparing for surgery and radiation and chemotherapy treatments, resulting in minimal side effects. Hypnotherapy sessions have helped her clients quit smoking or lose weight, as well as reduce stress. “The innate wisdom of the body takes over with these healing arts. I provide the tools and environment to open the door to wake up that wisdom,” Anderson explained.
